Congdon's Creek
SHELTER ISLAND PADDLER CLUB
Congdon's Creek is accessible from the Congdon Road town landing and docking
area.
The best place to put in your kayak/canoe is from the right side of the road, on the
beach area, through an opening in the beach grass. Many times you can not use
the cement town landing ramp because local baymen leave empty clam shells on
the muddy area where you would usually put in, and the broken shells will scratch
the bottom of your boat pretty badly.
The small bay by the dock is usually a very calm spot and a good practice area for
beginners.
When paddling out, be mindful of any boats pulling in or out of their dock spots.
The Congdon's Creek town
landing is a popular put-in spot
for all boaters.
The small beach to the right of
the landing is a soft put-in spot if
low tide has left the paved ramp
uncovered by water.
