About the Club
The Hobbyist
After having been raised on Shelter
Island, I took up kayaking about seven
years ago as a hobby. It has grown into
a passion, largely because of where I
first started kayaking. Shelter Island is
still relatively unknown to the general
paddling population and has just
recently increased its popularity due to
the emergence of a local island kayak
tour guide.
The Paddler Club
I formed the Shelter Island Paddler Club in an effort to help increase awareness of
how great the sport and hobby of paddling is, and to generate interest in paddling
around the East End of Long Island, particularly Shelter Island.

The general public is welcome to join any paddling excursion that is listed on this
web site calendar throughout the year, and must provide their own transportation
and kayak/canoe. Paddling excursions are easy-going and are simply a chance to
get together with fellow paddlers for a good day out on the water. You can go at your
own pace and take as long or as short a tour as you like.

We do not sell or rent kayaks or canoes or any paddling supplies.

Guided Tours
If you are looking for a more detailed day and want to take guided paddling tours,
